A Royal Wedding Celebration

We were up at 6 as usual today but today was The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. We had breakfast and the kids got dressed in suitable attire. Cat has been counting sleeps since she went back to school Wednesday after a two-week holiday for Easter. She was a tad excited and has enjoyed watching the YouTube videos at school of Prince Diana and Prince Charles.

We  made bunting from the cellophane wrapping and red tissue paper the flower bouquet I bought (£10 from Sainsbury’s) and used white tissue paper and blue sugar paper from our craft box. Once the triangles were cut I used a the thin gold thread that came with the gold pegs that I used. Clear cellophane then was placed over either a red, white or blue triangle and then pegged together. So no gluing or sewing. After today, the cellophane and paper will be used again for another project or recycled.

We had the telly on  SKY news all day and was gob smacked that Mouse only asked once in the morning to switch over to Peppa Pig. Kipbegan painting Cat’s face with the union flag whilst started piping the cakes we made with buttercream. Once he finished he had a go too. And they all sprinkle red, white and blue sugar balls and champagne bottle candles.

I painted Kieran’s face but Mouse wasn’t fussed she was more interested in eating cake, well poking her fingers in the buttercream.

Mouse fell asleep at 4,  after our shopping trip to Sainsbury’s after lunch.Think she’s going to sleep through.Kip and Cat said they enjoyed their day and I think I did too.

So cute! We had a similar day minus the face paints. It was just a fun and uplifting day wasn’t it? Your kiddies look so happy – that’s always the best part, just seeing their smiles. And those cupcakes look yummy. x

Yes, they loved it! I wanted them to look back and have something to remember apart from watching it on telly
